It’s hard enough to get ready in the morning without having to think, “Damn, I have nothing to wear to work today.” It gets even harder when you have to be in several events and places to go after work. This is my daily reality! As an entertainment journalist, I sometimes need to be in several events in one day. My solution is not to overthink things.. and just dress up (or down) whatever I wear to work. Here is an example of the work wear that is taken from a day to night look by losing the shirt and blazer. How do you do your day to night look?
New year, new wardrobe! I read this recently and I thought that I would love to run out and buy a whole new wardrobe imagining I had that wad of cash just like Julia Roberts did in Pretty woman or a more wholesome version in the character of Anne Hathaway as Andrea in Devil wears Prada. Sadly, reality strikes, and I realize that I told myself that this year is the year I start saving. At 37, I should be able to put money on better investments. Believe me, it was difficult to accept that my shoe collection is not an investment! So, I vowed to be a saving Nazi! The challenge here is to get creative. Since I work for TV, I am thinking , “I cant wear this because I’ve worn this before.” Really though, who cares? How many people just wear their clothes once? I think this all the time, but in the end I find a way to tweak an outfit and make it look new again. An example is this ensembles: a Joey Samson tulle skirt from a gown I wore to a friends wedding and my Zara chambray shirt. Who would have thought tulle and denim can wok together? Sometimes no one really notices… but I know and I feel good about being able to wear something over and over again because I get to convince myself that my clothing purchases are good deals.
