Runway to Reality… and Reality bites! I’ve seen this feature a thousand times on fashion magazines on how ordinary people translate into the streets, what size zero (and 10 feet tall) super models have strutted down the runway. Well even for a stick figure like myself, this ain’t easy to do!
I was like a kid in a candy store when I arrived at the H&M showroom. I could pick whatever I wanted to wear to the stores VIP party before it’s big opening day. Nikki, the uber stylish H&M showroom manager had a rack prepared from the H&M studio A/W collection for me which made me wish I had 5 bodies or several outfit changes for one night. It was the chiffon tunic that caught my eye! Nikki was excited because it was what she wanted me to wear, but, on my way to the dressing room the poster of the model wearing the tunic (in her braless glory) from the runway of the A/W studio collection made me feel as if I was a foot tall. I thought “I could never pull off this look.” Since no one was looking, I tried it on anyway. I was happy I did! This runway look didn’t bite me in the butt. I actually loved it on me. So never give up just because Giselle Bundchen wore it better.
